A West St. Paul homeowner picked up a pull-out retrofit kit on their own to turn their swing-door trash cabinet into a full pull-out, but wasn’t sure it would actually fit their existing cabinet.

The old swing door came off the cabinet first, and the slide-out wire basket mechanism was seated into the cavity to check fit. The customer-supplied kit got tested for compatibility before any permanent attachment, confirming it would work with the existing cabinet. The full-extension slide arms were fastened to the back of the door as a sub-assembly, done out in the hallway for more elbow room. The door went back on with the mechanism attached, using the kit’s instruction sheet and a few tools to fine-tune the fit until the pull-out action tested clean.

The trash cabinet now pulls out smoothly on its slide mechanism, giving the homeowner exactly what they were after. Kitchen was left clean when the job wrapped, no tools, hardware, or debris left behind. A floor-protection mat stayed down through the whole job to keep the wood flooring safe.
